Where are you?

With the results of the Primaries here in Oklahoma, it is quite obvious why we are in the situation we are in now. With only 23% of voters showing up, it is obvious why we are on a road to socialism. People wish to sit and complain about the problems but then don’t get up off the couch to cast a vote to stop it.

Our founding fathers assembled an army of farmers and business men. An army that had very little skill compared to the British Army. They knew that if they didn’t stand up and do something, their children and grandchildren would never have a good life of freedom and liberty. They knew that if they didn’t make the stand, the world would never see freedom and liberty.

“Every American Officer and Soldier must now console himself for any unpleasant circumstances which may have occurred, by a recollection of the uncommon scenes in which he has been called to act, no inglorious part; and the astonishing Events of which he has been a witness–Events which have seldom, if ever before, taken place on the stage of human action, nor can they probably ever happen again. For who has before seen a disciplined Army formed at once from such raw Materials? Who that was not a witness could imagine, that the most violent local prejudices would cease so soon, and that Men who came from the different parts of the Continent, strongly disposed by the habits of education, to despise and quarrel with each other, would instantly become but one patriotic band of Brothers? Or who that was not on the spot can trace the steps by which such a wonderful Revolution has been effected, and such a glorious period put to all our Warlike toils?” – George Washington’s Farewell Address to the Army, 1778

As Thomas Paine said in The Crisis:

“THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but “to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER” and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.”

We must not just remember November but focus on the Primaries. For if we don’t focus on the Primaries, we’ll be stuck with the lesser of two evils in November. We can not let our men and women in the armed forces fight and die in vain. We must exercise our god given right to vote. But not only to vote but get involved. We can not site and say it’s to inconvenient. We must get up and start fighting before it’s too late to fight at all. For those who don’t, they’ll wonder what happened and why someone didn’t do something. Well, some did, but you were too blind to see that we needed your help. For if we don’t fight together, we fall apart.
